We have some exciting news to share! Ride The Rockies will be returning to Gunnison in 2017!
The organization unveiled its 2017 route Saturday at a special event in Denver Saturday night. Brian Cooper, a board member of the Gunnison Country Chamber of Commerce, was on hand to represent the Gunnison community.
The chamber will serve as the host organization to Ride the Rockies, a role that involves numerous planning and logistics meetings, amassing an army of volunteers to help with the event and putting on a post ride party. The group will be arriving in Gunnison on Friday, June 16, from Montrose, overnighting here (using the Gunnison Community School as their base camp), and departing for Salida the following morning.
Tour organizers estimate that the ride infuses $250,000 into the host communities, in the form of hotel, restaurant and retail spending. Additionally, Ride the Rockies presents a $5,000 grant to a nonprofit organization in each host community. In addition to all of the cyclists, approximately 1,000 support staff and family and friends follow along as well. It’s a great boost to our early summer economy, and we want to really showcase all that is great about Gunnison in hopes that we can lure these visitors back for future vacations.
To learn how you can help during their stay in Gunnison, call 970.641.1501 or email email@example.com . We need volunteers! The Chamber will be working in conjunction with our partners The Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association, The City of Gunnison, The Gunnison Middle School, The Gunnison Police Department, and The I Bar Ranch to ensure that participants and community members alike have an awesome experience throughout this event.
